Two Charged In Connection With Heathrow Alleged Pepper Spray Attack
Formal charges have been brought against two men related to a suitcase robbery where a substance thought to be capsaicin spray led to people being hurt at the UK's busiest airport.
Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, now face two counts of robbery and two counts of deploying a toxic agent, as confirmed by court officials.
This legal action stems from an probe of an assault at the parking structure at Heathrow's Terminal Three on the weekend. Before the assault occurred, two female travelers had their luggage taken after exiting a parking garage elevator, police said.
A young child was among those injured during the incident. Several persons required hospital care and were eventually allowed to go home.
The incident – which authorities stated was not part of a series and not being treated as terrorism – resulted in disruptions to rail services and the temporary blocking of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a limited duration.
